Professional Biography
I have completed a long and rigorous training in both Humanistic and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and understand well the systematic methods of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.
I have a Masters Degree in Psychoanalytic Studies from the Tavistock Clinic, London and registered psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and abide by its clear code of ethics. I originally trained for 5-years as a Humanistic, Gestalt Body-Psychotherapist at the Chiron Centre, before completing a further 7-years theoretical and clinical study in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the London Centre for Psychotherapy; the internationally respected Tavistock Clinic & Portman NHS Foundation Trust and the Lincoln Centre for Psychotherapy. These latter studies included a 2-year child and 1-year infant observation an important aspect of a psychotherapists training (Sternberg, 2005)
I also completed a 1-year supervised study in brief psycho-dynamic therapy at the Tavistock Clinic, studied the active techniques Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) at the Metanoia Institute, and Schema Therapy (a development of CBT) with Dr. Wendy Behary.
I was 'Senior Lecturer in Counselling' at Southwark College and a 'Principal Tutor' at CPPD Counselling School (BACP Accredited) and have maintained a private practice for over 20 years and helped people from a wide variety of social, cultural and professional backgrounds.
